Meeting Minutes

Opening:

The regular meeting of Omaha N-Trak was called to order at 2:00 PM on 4 May, 2008 at Harvey Swangers by Scott Crites, President.

Present:

A.        Approval of Agenda

The agenda was unanimously approved as distributed.

B.        Approval of Minutes

The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as distributed.

C.        Treasurers Report

Richard Ralston gave the report.

D.        Open Issues

Trailer

Following March’s meeting  the following email was sent to all active members from Scott Crites:

Omaha N-Trak has had an ongoing discussion about acquiring a trailer for storing and hauling the clubs modules and accessories.  The discussion usually just ends in that it would cost several thousand dollars and we do not have the funds in the treasury.  At yesterdays meeting we were presented with an opportunity that is affordable and we have come up with a way that makes it doable.

 The opportunity is a 10’ x 5’ H&H trailer in pristine condition.  If you have been to The House of Trains you have seen it sitting out front for sale.  Dave has negotiated with his brother in-law to sell it to the club for $1,200.00.

 Financing would come from the members by creating shares valued at $10 each. Each member would purchase 8 shares.  Going forward the club would buy back shares on an annual basis when approved by the membership.  If you were to leave the club your shares would be bought by the club or other members at face value.

 For the amount you would spend on a Kato engine we can expand the clubs horizon.  We would not be burdening one or two individuals to haul and store the pieces we all use.  We would be able to consolidate all of the shared equipment in one place.  We could look into attending regional events and bonding with other clubs. Etc. ….. Etc.

We need to act this week, so please let me know if I can but you down for 8 shares by return email or phone me at 330-6252.

A positive response was received from the following members and shares recorded:

The trailer was purchased for $1,200.00 and was displayed at the meeting.

The clubs bank account was moved to First National Bank and one of two officers listed as signer, Treasurer and President.  Future checks and deposits will be from/to Omaha N-Trak.

E.         New Business

Two Shows coming up:

1) NE-IA Railroaders Sunday, 5/8 9 AM - 2 PM.  Set up is at 6 AM  The configuration will be 24’ X 12’.

2) Railroad Days will be July 12th & 13^th and we have been invited to run both days at the UP Museum in Council Bluffs.  Richard Ralston will be organizing the display.  They are expecting a good turn out.
